Beyond The Six Strings.
Guitar has been the most popular instrument in the last century but Its construction as an instrument has many limitations but at the same time those limitations give us the sound we all love. What are those limitations? How do we break them down and master them? If you listen to 50 great guitar players, you will hear 50 different ways to play.
My workshop’s goal is for the students to explore and discover their own unique way of playing.
Together we will explore hand movement (kinesiology), the visual aspect (playing horizontally, vertically, diagonally), listening practice, solfege (Learning to LISTEN what you see, and to SEE what you listen). Explore traditional and contemporary techniques, (sound - using the fingers productively and using amplifier/effects and pedals) We will expand our knowledge in melodic, harmonic and rhythmic vocabulary and we will go in depth in timing and improvisation. Additionally, through the workshop we will discover a wide range of musical styles and we will deal with the creative practice of all the techniques mentioned above.
